This is the second workshop in our new Webinar Workshop Series A. Technological literacy is the ability to use, manage, and problem solve, using technology. We will provide a variety of tools and information on how to develop technology literacy as a means to increase your personal "human capital." We live in a world that is increasingly dependent on technology. It is particularly important in this technological world that we understand and are comfortable with the concepts and workings of modern technology.
Experts predict more than 75 percent of jobs in America in the next decade will require some technology skills, but only 13 percent of American adults surveyed in 2006 were proficient in the knowledge and skills needed to search, comprehend and use information. So let’s take this opportunity to develop those basic technology skills and therefore actively pursue career advancement and/or new career paths that include the use of computers. We should equip ourselves with tools that will allow us to manage information and technology and thereby become a more efficient, effective and productive member of the workforce, either as an employee or as an employer.

This blog is designed to explore the wide gap between those who have access to technology and use it effectively and those who do not. The technology gap exists between those who can create and innovate to produce new technologies and those who cannot. It also exists between those who can access, adapt, master and use existing technologies and those who cannot. If we don't begin to embrace technology we risk the chance of becoming an extinct population of society in the workplace.
